Amplified music is regulated at the municipal level. Kingston, Woodstock, and New Paltz all require permits for outdoor amplified events and prohibit amplified sound audible beyond property lines during quiet hours.
Kingston Code Chapter 270 prohibits amplified sound plainly audible at a distance of 50 feet from the source between 10:00pm and 7:00am. Outdoor concerts and events require a special event permit. Woodstock requires a permit for any outdoor amplified event and limits sound to 65 dB at the property line.
