The Fort Wayne–Allen County noise chapter does not use numeric decibel (dBA) limits. It relies on a "disturbs the peace" standard plus a bright-line 30-foot audibility test for amplified and vehicle sound.
Unlike some Indiana cities that adopt dBA tables by zone and time, Chapter 96 is a qualitative ordinance. There is no decibel schedule for residential, commercial, or industrial zones. Enforcement turns on whether noise is "loud, raucous, improper, unreasonable, offensive, or unusual" and disturbs a reasonable person, and on the 30-foot audibility rule for amplified sound on public property or from vehicles. Unincorporated Allen County likewise has no decibel ordinance, so no meter reading is required to prove a violation.
Violations proven by the disturbance and 30-foot audibility standards, not a meter; fine $150–$500 per offense (§ 96.99).
