Lucas County sets no countywide decibel standard. Toledo caps fixed-source noise by zone: 55 dbA nights / 60 dbA days in single-family residential; higher in commercial and industrial zones. Unincorporated townships often rely on nuisance and disorderly-conduct rules, not dB numbers.
There is no county decibel ordinance. Toledo Municipal Code 507.14 sets fixed-source (machinery/equipment) limits measured at the affected property line: RS/RD/RM-12 and similar residential zones at 55 dbA (10 p.m.-7 a.m.) and 60 dbA (7 a.m.-10 p.m.); RM-24/36 at 60/65 dbA; commercial zones at 65/70 dbA; light industrial (IL) 70 dbA and general industrial (IG) 75 dbA anytime. On a zone boundary the lower level applies. Most unincorporated townships have no numeric dB rule and instead use nuisance language plus ORC 2917.11. Verify your zone with Toledo or your township.
Toledo violations are minor misdemeanors, each day a separate offense (TMC 507.99). Operators may seek a variance from the Director of Pollution Control (TMC 507.19).
