Sacramento County does not have a stand-alone outdoor-entertainment noise law for unincorporated areas; outdoor music is regulated under the exterior noise standards in County Code Chapter 6.68. The baseline residential limits are 55 dBA from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 50 dBA from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., measured at the affected neighboring property. Because the ordinance reduces each limit by 5 dBA for noise consisting of music (or speech, or tonal/impulsive sound), outdoor music faces effective caps of about 50 dBA in the daytime and about 45 dBA after 10 p.m. This applies to backyard speakers, live bands, outdoor weddings, pool-party sound systems and similar events at residences and venues in communities such as Fair Oaks, Orangevale and Vineyard.
