Siskiyou County has no noise ordinance regulating outdoor music or live events in unincorporated areas, so there's no county decibel cap or noise curfew for them. Larger gatherings may need a zoning special-event or temporary-use approval that can carry noise conditions. Otherwise, loud outdoor music is addressed under California's disturbing-the-peace law.
Outdoor concerts, festivals, weddings, and backyard music in unincorporated Siskiyou County are not subject to a county noise ordinance, because the County has not adopted one; a CPUC environmental review confirms noise is not regulated by the Siskiyou County Municipal Code. That means there is no county-imposed decibel ceiling or fixed cutoff time aimed specifically at outdoor music in communities such as McCloud, Lake Shastina, Happy Camp, Klamath River, or Callahan. Two other tools can still apply. First, when an event is large enough to require a discretionary approval, the County's zoning code (Title 10, Planning and Zoning) can require a special-event or temporary-use permit, and the County may attach noise-related conditions of approval to that permit; those conditions are then enforceable through the planning and code-enforcement process. The County also evaluates new noise-generating uses against the General Plan Noise Element's exterior land-use compatibility ranges (around 60 dBA Ldn acceptable for nearby residential receivers). Second, where outdoor music becomes loud and unreasonable and maliciously and willfully disturbs others, California Penal Code 415 (disturbing the peace) applies and is enforced by the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office. Outside of permit conditions and that state disturbance standard, there is no published county number that limits outdoor-music volume in the unincorporated area.
No county outdoor-music noise fine was found. Noise conditions on a special-event or temporary-use permit are enforced via the County's code-enforcement process. Loud, unreasonable outdoor music that disturbs others may be cited under California Penal Code 415 (up to 90 days jail and/or $400).
