Chapter 133 (Noise Control) of the Hoboken City Code was adopted February 16, 2011 (Ordinance Z-84) and approved by NJDEP, taking effect March 14, 2011. Maximum permissible sound levels are 65 dBA during daytime and 50 dBA during nighttime (10 PM to 7 AM). Prohibited activities during quiet hours include: loudspeakers, amplified music, yelling, unloading noisy vehicles, and running loud HVAC units. Chapter 145 (Peace and Good Order) supplements the noise ordinance. Enforcement officers include: Building Code Officials, Zoning Officer, Health Officers, Environmental Services Investigators, the Hoboken Police Department, and the Office of Emergency Management.
