Unincorporated Tehama County has no special ordinance restricting commercial or work-truck parking in residential areas. On public roads, commercial vehicle parking follows the California Vehicle Code; on private rural property there is generally no county size limit for parking, though living in a vehicle is regulated.
Tehama County's code does not contain a chapter that limits commercial vehicles, big rigs or work trucks in residential or rural neighborhoods the way many cities do. On county-maintained public roads, commercial-vehicle parking is governed by the California Vehicle Code, principally Section 22500, which lists where any vehicle may not stop, stand or park (intersections, crosswalks, sidewalks, in front of driveways, and other locations), plus the 72-hour removal rule in Section 22651(k). Where the county wants to restrict parking at a specific location it does so by listing the segment in Chapter 11.12 and posting signs; absent such a listing, the state code controls. On private property in the unincorporated area, the county does not cap the number or size of trucks you may park, but related rules can still apply: an inoperative or wrecked commercial vehicle visible from the road can become a nuisance under Chapter 9.02, and living in a vehicle or trailer is limited by Zoning Code Chapter 17.86. Operating a business is also subject to the zoning district rules for your parcel. Always confirm current requirements with Tehama County Planning and Public Works.
Commercial vehicles parked in violation of Vehicle Code Section 22500 or a posted Chapter 11.12 zone may be cited and towed; an inoperative commercial vehicle on private land visible from the road may be abated as a nuisance under Chapter 9.02.
