Unincorporated Sierra County's Code Chapter 11.12 does not set a general ordinance restricting where commercial trucks may park on residential streets. California Vehicle Code rules and the County's snow-removal restrictions apply, and most parking violations carry a $25 civil penalty.
The Sierra County Code's parking chapter (Chapter 11.12) addresses community-specific timed and prohibited zones rather than a dedicated commercial-vehicle or truck-parking ban for residential areas, so there is no county ordinance broadly prohibiting commercial vehicles from parking on neighborhood streets. Commercial vehicle parking is governed mainly by the California Vehicle Code. Under CVC 22500, no vehicle (including a commercial truck) may stop or park in a crosswalk, on a sidewalk, in front of a public or private driveway, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, or where signs prohibit it. The County's Winter Parking Guidelines apply to all vehicles, including commercial trucks and trailers, which must be kept off county roads, rights-of-way, and shoulders during snow removal (SCC 11.12.050; CVC 22510), or face towing at the owner's expense. Posted load and weight limits also apply on specific structures; the County Code, for example, sets an emergency weight limit on the Cedar Grove Ravine Bridge. Drivers should check posted signs and County Public Works for road-specific weight or width restrictions.
Commercial vehicles violating CVC 22500 parking rules or posted limits are cited under state law. Vehicles obstructing snow removal can be towed at the owner's expense (SCC 11.12.050; CVC 22651(L)). General civil parking penalties are $25 under SCC 11.12.110, plus 50% if paid late.
