Loading zones are a city matter, not a county one. Corpus Christi's traffic engineer designates and signs loading zones; commercial vehicles get 30 minutes and passenger loading is limited to 3 minutes. Where no hours are posted, the rules apply 24 hours a day.
Nueces County does not regulate loading zones on city streets. In Corpus Christi, Code § 53-160 authorizes the city manager or traffic engineer to locate, sign and set the hours for loading zones; if no hours are posted the rules apply around the clock. Section 53-162 limits standing to load or unload passengers to 3 minutes, and § 53-163 gives commercial vehicles up to 30 minutes for freight between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. (except Sundays). Some specially signed zones are restricted to commercial vehicles only.
Misusing or overstaying a loading zone draws a Corpus Christi parking citation plus the $5 court cost under § 53-153.
