Twain Harte, CA Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Loading-zone rules for the unincorporated county are in Ordinance Code Section 10.24.050 (Curb markings - parking, stopping and standing - specifications). A yellow curb 'means no stopping, standing or parking at any time, for any purpose other than the loading or unloading of passengers or freight,' and loading or unloading of passengers may not exceed 20 minutes nor freight more than 20 minutes 'unless otherwise allowed by the Board of Supervisors.' A white curb 'means no stopping, standing or parking between seven a.m. and six p.m. of any day except Sundays and holidays for any purpose other than either loading or unloading of passengers or, for the purpose of depositing mail in an adjacent mailbox, which shall not exceed twenty minutes.' A red curb means no stopping, standing, or parking at any time except as the California Vehicle Code permits and except that a bus may stop in a red zone marked or signed as a bus loading zone. Separately, Section 10.24.040 lets buses (as common carriers), school buses, and taxicabs stop to load or unload passengers in front of public or private driveways. Curb-color restrictions take effect once the curb is painted and any required sign is posted. A general Chapter 10.24 violation carries a $35 penalty under Section 10.24.080.
