Henrico has no blanket countywide ban on overnight parking of a licensed, operable car on a public street. However, a vehicle left unattended on public property for more than 48 hours can be tagged and towed as abandoned.
The county code does not impose a general overnight on-street parking prohibition, so a properly licensed and operable vehicle may usually park overnight on a residential street unless a posted sign says otherwise (Sec. 22-152). The practical limit is the abandoned-vehicle rule: under Section 22-252, a vehicle left unattended on public property in violation of law for more than 48 hours is deemed abandoned and, through the Tag and Tow program, is stickered and removed if it is not moved. Recreational trailers stored on a residential lot must sit in the rear or side yard and may not be occupied overnight (Sec. 24-102(2)).
There is no overnight-specific fine, but abandoned vehicles are towed under the Tag and Tow program after 48 hours, and owners are billed removal and storage costs.
