Noblesville does not impose a citywide blanket overnight parking ban on passenger vehicles, but Section 72.47 of the Code of Ordinances caps any motor vehicle parked on a public street at 72 consecutive hours, and Section 72.47 separately prohibits an unattached trailer of any kind on any public street, alley, or roadway except for utility-maintenance vehicles or approved booths. Downtown evenings (after 5 p.m.) and weekends offer unlimited free parking on the courthouse square under Schedule VII as updated in April 2026.
Chapter 72 of the Noblesville Code of Ordinances does not contain a universal overnight ban for cars and light trucks; properly registered, operable passenger vehicles may park on most public streets overnight subject to posted no-parking signs, the state-law no-parking distances in IC 9-21-16-5 (within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, in or within 20 feet of a crosswalk, on a sidewalk, within 30 feet of a stop sign or signal), and the Section 72.47 cap. Section 72.47 (Parking on public street) provides that 'no person shall park a motor vehicle on a public street for more than 72 consecutive hours,' and adds that 'no person shall stop, stand, or park an unattached trailer of any kind on any public street, alley, or roadway except for vehicles used in conjunction with public utility repairs or maintenance of their utilities,' with temporary exceptions for street booths and concessions tied to an approved activity. Section 72.10 still requires every parked vehicle to leave at least 18 feet of usable roadway width on non-alley streets, and Section 72.11 requires at least 12 feet in alleys with no blocking of an abutting driveway. Around downtown, the April 23, 2026 update to Schedule VII (Parking Time Limited) created unlimited free overnight parking on the courthouse square: free weekday parking is capped at 3 hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but evenings after 5 p.m. and all weekend are unlimited and free, including in the Federal Hill Commons (teal) lots, the orange and gold lots (meters removed), and on free street parking along North 8th and 10th streets. The Levinson parking garage offers 3 free hours and then $2 per hour, with Denison Parking managing enforcement in city lots and garages. The Noblesville Police Department handles right-of-way enforcement, including dispatching a community service officer to inspect vehicles and trailers in the public right-of-way on complaint.
Leaving any motor vehicle, including a passenger vehicle, on a Noblesville public street for more than 72 consecutive hours violates Section 72.47 of the Code of Ordinances. Leaving an unattached trailer overnight on any public street, alley, or roadway separately violates Section 72.47. Parking overnight within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, in or within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, on a sidewalk, or within 30 feet of a stop sign, flashing beacon, or traffic-control signal violates IC 9-21-16-5. Parking that leaves less than 18 feet of usable street width violates Section 72.10.
