Siskiyou County, CA Parking Rules: Oversized Vehicle Parking (2026)

There is no published Siskiyou County ordinance setting a unique length or weight limit for oversized vehicles parked on residential County roads. State law controls vehicle size and weight on all public roadways: California Vehicle Code Division 15 sets maximum dimensions and weights, including CVC Section 35550, which limits the gross weight on any one axle to 20,000 pounds and on any one wheel or wheels supporting one end of an axle to 10,500 pounds. General parking restrictions in CVC Section 22500 apply regardless of vehicle size, prohibiting stopping in front of driveways, in crosswalks and intersections, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, and in posted no-parking areas. In Siskiyou County's snow communities, the practical 'oversized' constraint is the winter requirement that the roadway be kept clear for plows: County Ordinance No. 770 prohibits parking in the roadway during snow-removal operations, and a large vehicle or trailer obstructing plowing may be removed and stored at the owner's expense under Code Section 3-4.606. Heavy or oversized vehicles operating on County roads may also require transportation permits under state size-and-weight law administered through the County.
