Tuolumne County's parking rules for the unincorporated area live in Ordinance Code Chapter 10.24 (Stopping, Standing and Parking). Section 10.24.010 expressly defines 'vehicle' to include 'automobiles, trucks, trailers, house trailers and movable living quarters of any nature or description,' and it prohibits parking any of these on the county road system or county rights-of-way 'in a manner which will obstruct vehicular traffic.' Section 10.24.030 sets the core time limit: no person may leave a vehicle standing on any public street or highway for more than 72 consecutive hours after a notice has been posted on the vehicle; a vehicle posted with notice and not moved at least 50 yards is deemed in violation and is subject to removal at the owner's expense. This mirrors California Vehicle Code Section 22651(k), under which a peace officer may remove a vehicle abandoned or left standing on a highway for 72 or more consecutive hours. On private property, RV occupancy and storage are governed by the county's Title 17 zoning rather than Chapter 10.24. There is no published countywide flat ban on parking an RV or boat at a residence on public roads beyond the 72-hour rule, so residents in the high-country snow areas should pay particular attention to the separate snow-removal parking ban (Section 10.28).
