Calaveras County's published parking rules focus on snow operations rather than a county-wide RV/boat storage ban. On County roads, recreational vehicles, boats and trailers are governed by the California Vehicle Code, and Public Works requires personal property like boat trailers be removed from the road right-of-way for snow plowing.
Calaveras County does not publish a stand-alone county-wide ordinance limiting where residents may store a recreational vehicle, boat or utility trailer on their own private rural property; such uses are addressed through Title 17 zoning and nuisance review on a case-by-case basis. On a County road or its shoulder, parking is controlled by the California Vehicle Code. CVC §22500 prohibits stopping or parking in front of a driveway, on a sidewalk, in a crosswalk, within an intersection, or in posted no-parking areas, which applies equally to RVs, boats and trailers. Calaveras County Public Works' snow-season guidance is explicit that 'all personal property must be removed from the right-of-way for successful snowplow operations,' listing 'boat trailers' among items that block plows. The county's Abandoned Vehicle Abatement program notes that 'RV's, Trailers, and Vessels may be eligible on a case-by-case basis' for abatement if abandoned and inoperable. Residents in snow areas (Arnold, Avery, Dorrington, Bear Valley) should keep RVs, boats and trailers off the road and out of the right-of-way, which extends roughly 5 to 10 feet beyond the pavement edge.
A recreational vehicle, boat or trailer left in the County road right-of-way during snow removal may be towed at the owner's expense, and the County is not liable for plow damage. On roads, CVC §22500 parking violations and CVC §22669 abandoned-vehicle removal apply.
