San Joaquin County regulates street parking in unincorporated areas through its Code of Ordinances and county road regulations. The standard 72-hour California Vehicle Code rule applies. County roads adjacent to residential zones have restrictions on oversized and commercial vehicle storage.
SJC Ordinance Code Β§71.40 (Parking on Public Ways) governs parking on county roads. The California 72-hour maximum street parking rule (CVC Β§22651(k)) applies in all unincorporated county areas. Commercial vehicles with a GVWR of 10,000 lbs or more are prohibited from parking on streets abutting R-1 or residential zones (when properly posted), except for active loading/unloading or construction deliveries. County roads are maintained by Public Works (209-468-3090). Inoperative vehicles must not be stored on public roads or rights-of-way.
72-hour rule violations: vehicle may be ticketed or towed. Commercial vehicle parking in residential zones: citation under county ordinance.
