Pool barrier fences must comply with Clark County pool safety requirements: minimum 5 feet tall, self-closing and self-latching gates, no openings allowing passage of a 4-inch sphere, and gates must open outward from the pool. Block wall fences, which are the community standard in most of Clark County, may require engineering for walls over 6 feet due to wind loading in the desert climate.
Fences over 6 feet built without a permit violate Title 22. Enforcement includes stop-work orders, fines, and orders to obtain a permit or remove the non-compliant structure. Pool fences not meeting safety requirements can result in immediate enforcement action due to the drowning hazard.
