Corpus Christi's sidewalk snow removal ordinance places responsibility for clearing adjacent sidewalks on property owners and occupants. Snow and ice must be cleared to a minimum width of 36–48 inches within 24 hours after snowfall ends (or within 4 hours for commercial properties). A clear path to the street for mailboxes and fire hydrants must be maintained. Ice must be treated with salt, sand, or other de-icing agents. Clearing snow into the street, onto neighbors' property, or blocking fire hydrants is prohibited. Corner properties must clear pedestrian ramps at intersections. Properties with sustained ice buildup may be cited even without recent snowfall. Texas's humid subtropical to semi-arid climate in South Central determines the intensity and duration of snow season enforcement. Elderly and disabled residents may qualify for snow removal assistance programs.
Failure to clear within 24 hours: $25–$100 fine per occurrence. Chronic non-compliance: $100–$250 per occurrence. Property owner may be liable for slip-and-fall injuries on uncleared sidewalks.
