La Porte requires that trash and recycling bins be stored out of public view except on collection day. Bins should be placed at the curb the evening before or morning of pickup and retrieved by the end of the collection day.
Residents must store trash and recycling containers in an area not visible from the street when not placed out for collection. Bins may be placed at the curb no earlier than the evening before the scheduled pickup day and must be retrieved by the end of the collection day. Containers should be placed at the curb with lids closed and should not block sidewalks, driveways, or mailboxes. Overflowing containers or loose trash beside bins may result in code enforcement action. The city contracts with a waste hauler for residential solid waste collection. Bins must be maintained in serviceable condition and replaced if damaged. Contact Code Enforcement at (281) 471-5020 for complaints about bins left out beyond collection day or improperly stored bins.
Leaving trash bins at the curb beyond collection day or storing them in view of the street may result in a code violation notice. Repeated violations can lead to fines. Overflowing or unsecured trash that creates a nuisance is also subject to enforcement action.
