Baytown residents must store trash bins out of public view when not set out for collection. Bins may be placed at the curb no earlier than 6:00 PM the evening before collection and must be retrieved by the end of the collection day. Bins left at the curb beyond the allowed time are a code violation.
Under Baytown's property maintenance standards, residential trash and recycling bins must be stored in a location not visible from the street when not set out for collection. Acceptable storage locations include the garage, side yard behind the front building line, or screened areas. Bins may be placed at the curb no earlier than 6:00 PM the evening before the scheduled collection day. All bins must be retrieved and returned to their storage location by the end of the collection day. Baytown contracts with Republic Services for residential curbside collection. Each residence receives a 96-gallon trash cart and a 96-gallon recycling cart. Bins must be placed at the curb with the lid opening facing the street, at least 3 feet apart and 3 feet from any obstruction such as mailboxes, parked cars, or utility poles. Damaged or missing carts can be replaced by calling Republic Services or the city's Solid Waste Division. Contact Code Enforcement at (281) 420-6585 for property maintenance complaints.
Trash bins left at the curb outside the permitted collection window are a property maintenance code violation. Bins stored in the front yard visible from the street are subject to citation. Repeated violations may result in escalating fines. Code Enforcement conducts both complaint-based and proactive enforcement patrols.
