Lubbock Code of Ordinances Chapter 18 requires residential trash carts to be stored out of public view between collections and kept clean and sanitary. Visible front-yard storage between collection days is a code violation.
Chapter 18 of the Lubbock Code requires that solid waste containers be kept in a sanitary condition and stored so they are screened from public view when not set out for collection. Acceptable storage locations include inside a garage, behind a fence, or along the side of the house where not visible from the street. Carts left at the curb for more than 24 hours after collection, or permanently stored in front yards, may be cited by Code Enforcement. Containers must also be kept clean to prevent odor, pests, and rodent harborage. Lids must remain closed except when depositing waste.
Notice to correct, followed by Class C misdemeanor citation with fines up to $500 for repeated violations.
