Lincoln has not adopted a local calorie or menu labeling ordinance. Restaurants with twenty or more locations nationwide follow the federal FDA menu labeling rule under Section 4205 of the Affordable Care Act.
Lincoln Municipal Code does not impose a standalone calorie or menu labeling rule. Chains with twenty or more locations nationally must post calorie counts on menus, menu boards, and prepared-food displays under the FDA's menu labeling regulation (21 CFR 101.11). LLCHD inspectors do not enforce that federal rule, but they may note related sanitation issues. Local restaurants without nationwide chain status are not required to disclose calorie counts. Operators offering nutrition information voluntarily must ensure it is accurate or risk consumer protection complaints under the Nebraska Consumer Protection Act.
Local enforcement is generally absent; FDA enforces federal menu labeling. Misleading voluntary labeling can trigger consumer protection complaints.
