Fargo Cass Public Health (FCPH) inspects food establishments under ND food code, but Fargo does not assign letter grades like A/B/C; reports are public on the FCPH website.
FCPH licenses and inspects all retail food establishments in Fargo, West Fargo, and Cass County under the North Dakota Food Code (NDAC Article 33-33). Routine inspections occur 1 to 4 times annually based on risk classification. Unlike Los Angeles County, North Dakota does not use a letter-grade placard system; instead, inspection reports listing critical and noncritical violations are posted to the FCPH website. Imminent health hazards trigger closure until the operator corrects the issue. Foodborne illness complaints are investigated by FCPH environmental health staff.
Operating without a current food license or refusing inspection can lead to suspension, closure, and fines under NDCC Β§23-09 and city Chapter 10.
