STRs must follow the same noise and nuisance rules as any residence. Kootenai County enforces its nuisance ordinance and Idaho's disturbing-the-peace law equally against short-term rental guests; there is no STR-specific noise standard.
Idaho Code 67-6539 expressly keeps short-term rentals subject to all generally-applicable ordinances on noise and nuisance, applied the same as to permanent residences. The county cannot single out STRs with stricter noise limits, but ordinary rules still bite: Kootenai County's nuisance provisions and Idaho's disturbing-the-peace statute (Idaho Code 18-6409) let deputies act on loud parties, amplified music, and after-hours disturbances. The county also adopted a barking-dog ordinance limiting early-morning and evening barking. Owners are wise to set quiet-hour house rules and post them, though the county cannot legally mandate STR-only quiet hours.
Disturbing the peace under Idaho Code 18-6409 is a misdemeanor; county nuisance violations carry abatement and fines. Enforced against the responsible person the same as any residence.
