Short-term rental permit rules in Nueces County, TX — also called Airbnb permits, vacation rental licenses, or STR registration — list the application steps, fees, and operating requirements for hosting.
Texas counties cannot zone or license short-term rentals in unincorporated areas. Inside a city, the city code governs. Corpus Christi and Port Aransas both require an STR permit before you rent or even advertise a home for stays under 30 days.
Nueces County has no general zoning power, so unincorporated properties need no county STR permit. But most rentals sit inside Corpus Christi or the beach town of Port Aransas, which both run mandatory STR permit programs. Port Aransas requires the operator to register the property and obtain a permit before using or advertising it as a short-term rental. Corpus Christi requires registration of any dwelling rented for fewer than 30 consecutive days, applied for through the MuniRevs portal. Hotels, motels and stays over 30 days are treated differently.
Operating or advertising an unpermitted STR inside either city is a code violation subject to citation, fines and permit denial or revocation.
