Under Article 6.8, Zoning Permits for short-term rentals are not one-time approvals. The county brochure states owners of registered STRs are mailed an annual renewal notice each January and must renew (historically on or before April 1; the current application form states renewal on or before December 31). Renewal applications must demonstrate compliance with the current ZLDR. Unless renewed, the permit terminates automatically regardless of whether the owner received notice. A Business License must be obtained before advertising and also renewed. Every STR advertisement must include the county-issued Zoning Permit number and Business License number.
An expired or unrenewed permit means the STR is unpermitted; the County enforces under Article 6.8 zoning enforcement and penalty provisions.
