Booking platforms (Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com) are prohibited from processing transactions for unregistered listings. By mid-2025, only about 3,000 registered listings remained citywide, down from over 38,000 in early 2023. Brooklyn was particularly affected, with neighborhoods like Williamsburg, Bushwick, and Bed-Stuy losing thousands of listings.
