Applicants must submit a notarized affidavit identifying the owner and a designated 24/7 local contact, proof of property insurance covering STRP use, proof of current Hotel Occupancy Tax registration with the Metro Treasurer, and written notice to abutting property owners. The current STRP permit fee is $313, paid at the time the application is approved. Type 1 (owner-occupied) permits require proof that the property is the applicant's principal residence. Type 2 permits are subject to the 3% per-census-tract density cap. Permits expire 365 days after issuance and must be renewed annually with another $313 fee, updated insurance certificate, and proof of Hotel Occupancy Tax payment. Per Section 17.16.250.E, every internet advertisement must prominently display the STRP permit number or a link to an image of the permit.
Operating or advertising without a permit is a civil violation under Chapter 6.28.030 and Section 17.16.250 and may trigger a stop-operation order from Codes Administration. The three-strikes rule applies: three violations within any 12-month period results in permit revocation. Listings that omit the permit number are themselves a violation. Civil penalties may be assessed per day of continuing violation under Metro Code 1.01.040.
