Eligible structures include single-family dwellings, duplexes, rooms, guest houses, condominiums, and some ADUs. Ineligible structures include apartments, yurts, travel trailers, and RVs. The permit is biennial and must be renewed with a property inspection. The owner or designated agent must be available 24/7 by phone and able to be physically present within 1 hour. The county maintains a dedicated STR portal at str.sbcounty.gov and a 24/7 complaint hotline at 1-833-SBC-STR1 (1-833-722-7871).
