Clark County adopted Chapter 7.100 on June 21, 2022, effective July 1, 2023 implementing AB 363 (2021). A 1% cap on total eligible housing units limits permits to approximately 3,000 across unincorporated areas. As of August 2025, only 194 permits had been issued (~6.7% of capacity). STRs must maintain 1,000-foot separation from other STR licenses (stricter than AB 363's 660-foot state minimum) and 2,500 feet from resort hotels β effectively prohibiting STRs near the entire Strip corridor. One license per natural person or entity. Property owner name must match Clark County Assessor records. RVs, mobile homes, apartment buildings, and apartments are ineligible. Application window closed August 21, 2023. CRITICAL: A U.S. District Court granted a preliminary injunction blocking Clark County from enforcing key STR ordinance provisions while litigation proceeds.
Unlicensed operation: up to $10,000 fine. Licensed violations: up to $1,000. Fines over $5,000: liens and special assessments (per Feb 2025 amendment). Currently subject to federal court injunction.
