South Fulton has no garage-sale-specific sign category. A yard-sale sign is a content-neutral "small temporary sign" under Article 7: max 4 sq ft, max 3 ft high, no permit, limited to 4 per lot in residential districts. Yard sales themselves are capped at two per property per year (Section 304.13). Signs are barred from the public right-of-way.
South Fulton does not name "garage sale" or "yard sale" signs separately; they are regulated as "Small Temporary Signs" under Article 7 of the Zoning Ordinance. A small temporary sign is defined as a sign no greater than 4 square feet in area, made for short-term use of 90 days or less, standing no taller than 3 feet, mounted on a stake or metal frame no thicker than 1.5 inches. No permit is required. The Article 7 sign table allows up to 4 small temporary signs per lot in residential districts. Under the prohibited-signs rules (Section 705), no sign may be placed in any government right-of-way, mounted on a tree or utility pole, or located so as to obstruct an intersection or a driver's view; signs must also generally be set back at least 10 feet from the right-of-way. Separately, the underlying yard-sale activity is regulated by Section 304.13, which states that "yard sales do not require an Administrative Permit but are limited to no more than two sales per calendar year on the same property." So a resident may advertise a yard sale with small temporary signs on private property, but should remove them promptly (short-term use) and keep them off public rights-of-way, poles, and trees.
Posting yard-sale signs in the public right-of-way, on utility poles or street trees, exceeding 4 small temporary signs per residential lot, or holding more than two yard sales per year on the same property violates the Code and may lead to sign removal and code-enforcement action.
