The City of South Fulton's Code of Ordinances contains no fireworks ordinance, so consumer fireworks are governed by Georgia state law (O.C.G.A. Title 25, Chapter 10). State law lets adults use consumer fireworks daily from 10:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., with extra time on New Year's.
A full-text review of the City of South Fulton Code of Ordinances (Municode, current through Ordinance No. 2025-041) found no fireworks ordinance; a code search for 'fireworks' returns no results and the city's fire title (Title 13) does not mention fireworks. South Fulton therefore follows Georgia's statewide consumer-fireworks law in O.C.G.A. Title 25, Chapter 10, which legalized consumer (1.4G) fireworks for adults statewide in 2015. Under O.C.G.A. 25-10-2, it is lawful for a person 18 or older to use or ignite consumer fireworks on any day beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 11:59 p.m., and on January 1 of each year from 12:00 midnight to 1:00 a.m. (extended New Year's hours). The same statute prohibits igniting consumer fireworks indoors, within 100 yards of certain facilities (such as those handling fuel or fireworks), on a public roadway or right-of-way, in a public park without a permit, or while under the influence. Georgia local governments may not ban consumer fireworks outright but may apply their general noise ordinances to fireworks during the permitted hours. Because South Fulton has no separate fireworks ordinance, the state default hours and prohibitions control; professional public displays still require a Georgia State Fire Marshal license.
Fireworks complaints in South Fulton are handled under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. 25-10) and, for late-night noise, the city's general noise provisions. Using consumer fireworks outside the 10:00 a.m.-11:59 p.m. window, in a prohibited location, or while impaired can result in a citation by the South Fulton Police Department; unlicensed public displays violate state fireworks licensing rules.
