South Fulton's Zoning Ordinance (Article 6) governs driveways and off-street parking. In single-family districts, vehicles must be parked on defined parking spaces, required spaces must sit on an all-weather surface, and no more than four visible vehicles may be kept at a single-family residence. Driveways may be shared in all districts.
Driveway and off-street parking standards in South Fulton come from the city Zoning Ordinance (Appendix C, Article 6, Parking and Loading). Sec. 602 requires that required parking spaces be located on an all-weather surface as defined in the Ordinance and that dedicated spaces be used for parking motor vehicles only. Sec. 605.04 expressly provides that driveways may be shared in all districts. For single-family residential and AG-1 single-family lots, Sec. 606 requires that the parking or storage of vehicles be confined to parking spaces as defined in the Ordinance, prohibits off-site location of required spaces, and allows a maximum of two spaces adjoining the entrance to a front-entry garage or carport (or the end of a driveway where no garage/carport exists), with not more than a set percentage of a required rear yard used for parking. Sec. 607 caps visible parking at four vehicles at a single-family residence. In nonresidential and commercial districts, setbacks apply: driveways generally may not be located nearer than 10 feet to any side or rear property line, and off-street parking is barred within front-yard and side-corner-yard setbacks.
Parking on an unimproved surface where an all-weather surface is required, exceeding the visible four-vehicle cap at a single-family home, or placing a driveway inside a required setback violates Article 6. Code Enforcement issues a notice of violation with an abatement window before a municipal court citation.
