South Fulton, GA Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

Section 3-6009(a) of the Property Maintenance Ordinance lets a residential lot keep up to two recreational vehicles, provided each is 45 feet or shorter and stored completely inside a garage or carport, or parked in the side or rear yard on a driveway or parking area built of concrete, asphalt, grasscrete, or other impervious surface at least as wide and long as the vehicle. That parking area must sit directly adjacent to a paved driveway, and the RV can tie into an outlet but cannot be occupied. Setbacks are five feet from the side line and ten feet from the rear line. Section 3-6009(b) applies the identical surface, adjacency, and setback rules to boats and other watercraft up to 30 feet long. Neither an RV nor a boat may be parked where it creates a demonstrable traffic hazard.

Ordinary passenger-vehicle parking is governed separately by the Zoning Ordinance. Section 606.01(a) bars off-street parking or vehicle storage in single-family and AG-1 districts except in defined parking spaces: unenclosed spaces can sit in the side yard and cover no more than 50 percent of the required rear yard, and only two spaces may adjoin the entrance to a front-entry garage or carport, or the end of a driveway where no garage exists, keeping cars off the open front lawn. Section 607.01(a) separately makes it unlawful to visibly store or park more than four vehicles at a single-family residence, and junk or salvage vehicles are barred outright unless kept out of view in an enclosed garage.
