South Fulton's Code of Ordinances (Title 8) makes it unlawful to park between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on the right-of-way of any residential street, ramp, road, or highway under the city's jurisdiction, any non-motorized vehicle or conveyance or any motor vehicle in a license-weight category over 26,000 pounds.
South Fulton regulates overnight on-street parking through its own Code of Ordinances, Title 8 (Traffic and Vehicles). It is unlawful for any person to park between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on the right-of-way of any residential street, ramp, road, or highway under the city's jurisdiction any non-motorized vehicle or conveyance, or any motorized vehicle designated by the Georgia Department of Public Safety for a license tag in any weight category higher than 26,000 pounds. The ordinance carves out exceptions: it does not apply to construction vehicles, trailers, or equipment temporarily located within a construction area and used in connection with dwelling units under construction; and it excepts trailers used for recreation or noncommercial purposes and/or boats being transported to and from locations along a street. There is no general overnight ban on ordinary passenger cars on residential streets, so the rule chiefly targets unhitched trailers, conveyances, and very heavy commercial-class vehicles left on neighborhood streets overnight. Violations escalate: $500.00 for a first offense, $750.00 for a second, and $1,000.00 for each additional offense.
Leaving a non-motorized trailer/conveyance or a vehicle over 26,000 lbs license weight on a residential right-of-way between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. violates Title 8. Fines are $500 first offense, $750 second offense, and $1,000 for each additional offense; recreation/noncommercial trailers and boats in transit, and permitted construction equipment, are exempt.
