Atlanta has no citywide overnight parking ban. Vehicles may park on most streets unless posted otherwise or the block is in an RPP zone. Vehicles unmoved for 72 hours can be tagged abandoned.
Unlike many suburbs, Atlanta has no universal overnight parking ban. Vehicles may remain on most public streets 24/7 as long as they are legally parked, have current registration, and are operable. Exceptions exist where signs post no parking or time limits, and in RPP zones where a permit may be required overnight. Vehicles that sit in the same spot for more than 72 hours may be tagged as abandoned under Atlanta Code Ch. 150, Art. III and towed. Commercial vehicles over a certain weight are separately restricted. Street sweeping signs, where posted, preempt normal overnight parking during the sweep window.
Standard parking tickets apply for violations of posted signs or RPP zones. Vehicles ticketed as abandoned may be towed at the owner's expense.
