South Fulton, GA Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Section 608.01's table sets minimum bay counts by use and floor area: a single retail store needs no bay under 20,000 square feet, one bay from 20,000 to 49,999, two from 50,000 to 250,000, and three above that; shopping centers, office buildings, hospitals, hotels, and manufacturing or warehousing uses scale similarly, and a recycling center needs two bays measuring at least 12 by 35 feet with 14 feet of vertical clearance. Section 608.02 sets that same 12-by-35-foot, 14-foot-clearance minimum for every bay, requires at least one bay in three to measure 12 by 55 feet where three or more bays are required, and bars maneuvering space from overlapping required parking or the public right-of-way. Section 608.03 then fixes where those bays and their maneuvering areas can sit: only within the portions of a lot where off-street parking is allowed, and behind a 50-foot landscaped buffer strip whenever the loading area is across from or adjacent to a nonindustrial district, or adjacent to an established residential use.

Section 607.04 separately restricts commercial trucks and trailers in O-1, C-1, C-2, and MIX districts to loading zones or loading docks posted for that purpose, and flatly bans using a loading zone or dock for sleeping or overnight parking. The South Fulton Police Department enforces that ban, and a violator faces a penalty of up to $1,000.00 plus impound and towing costs, with each day of noncompliance a separate violation.
