Georgia pool fence code requires any pool deeper than 24 inches to be enclosed by a barrier at least 48 inches (4 feet) tall, measured on the side facing away from the pool. Fence openings must be less than 4 inches wide — a 4-inch sphere must not be able to pass through. Gates must be self-closing and self-latching. Gate latch release mechanisms must be at least 54 inches from the ground, opening outward away from the pool. Ground clearance at the bottom of the barrier must not exceed 4 inches. Cobb County (including Kennesaw) uses the 2018 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code as the foundation for compliance requirements. A building permit is required for all pool construction.
