Santa Barbara County, CA Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Bulky-item (large-item) disposal in unincorporated Santa Barbara County is handled by the County's franchise hauler, MarBorg Industries, as part of residential service. MarBorg provides residential customers 'four (4) free annual bulky item clean ups,' with a maximum of five items per collection visit. Accepted items are household goods; green waste must be bundled and tied, and loose items must be bagged, boxed, or bundled. MarBorg does not accept construction and remodel material, hazardous waste such as paint cans and liquids, debris from professional tree trimming, or large vessels such as boats and Jacuzzis; items longer than five feet or heavier than 60 pounds must be pre-approved. Pickups are scheduled by calling MarBorg Customer Service at (805) 963-1852, and only the items communicated in advance will be removed, so residents should call again before collection day if their list changes. All items must be brought to the roadside by 6:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day. Residents may also self-haul bulky and other discards to County waste facilities such as the South Coast Recycling & Transfer Station, the Santa Ynez Valley Recycling & Transfer Station, and the Tajiguas Landfill/ReSource Center, where disposal fees apply. Household hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, batteries) must go to the Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center rather than into bulky-item pickup.
