Full Breakdown
Under City Code § 27-22, residents may not set bulk trash out more than seven days before the scheduled collection date, and it must be out by 6:00 a.m. that day in neat stacks. Curbside bulk trash goes on the resident's property parallel to the street; alley bulk trash sits at the property line, never on the sidewalk, in the street, or behind a fence. Items must stay 5 feet clear of fixed objects, and the pile can't exceed 20 cubic yards uncompacted. Green organics must be separated out. Mattresses, furniture, tires, and anything with refrigerants are barred from normal collection, along with more than 25 pounds of resident-generated construction debris.
Violations & Fines
Improperly placed, oversized, or unacceptable bulk trash is a code violation; the City can abate it and bill the responsible party, who must remove excess or barred items at their own expense.
