Gilbert, AZ Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Section 66-288(d) sets the rules for what the town will pick up as bulk trash. Bulk trash is collected on a regular recurring schedule for single-family dwelling units already paying for refuse service; anything larger than a combined pile of five feet by five feet by ten feet of yard waste and bulk trash requires a special collection with an additional fee under § 66-292. Brush, tree limbs and cuttings may not exceed five feet in length or 12 inches in diameter. on the Monday of that week, set within the street at the curbline (or, if that would block pedestrians or vehicles, on the driveway as close to the curb as possible) in a neat, consolidated pile placed lengthwise and parallel to the curb.

It cannot sit on sidewalks or curbing, or block a mechanized collection container. Freon-bearing appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioners are excluded from normal bulk service and require a special paid collection, with locking mechanisms or doors removed per § 42-106 before pickup. Unacceptable materials include construction or demolition debris, large auto parts, tires, used oil, rocks, soil-like or concrete materials, unbagged leaves and grass clippings, and vegetation over five feet long or 12 inches in diameter, these must go to a landfill or a private roll-off service instead.

Century plants and cacti must be boxed in cardboard weighing no more than 60 pounds per box because of the hazard they pose to collection crews.
