Code of Gilbert § 66-291 sets the frequency of residential collection. The director designates the specific days and hours of pickup for each route. Regular refuse service is delivered once a week to every single-family dwelling unit unless the property is exempt under the division (for example, self-hauling arrangements addressed in § 66-262); where a residence keeps more than one refuse container, all of that home's containers are serviced on the same day. Bulk trash collection runs on its own regular recurring schedule for all single-family homes, and the town publicizes those collection times separately from the weekly refuse route.

Bulk trash service is limited to waste generated on the premises: it may not be used for waste from home occupations or for yard waste generated off-site. without the director's advance written approval, and § 66-286 gives the town and its authorized agents the exclusive right to collect refuse within Gilbert, subject to the licensed-hauler and state-law exceptions elsewhere in the chapter.
