Bulk trash pickup is arranged by your city or hauler. For hard-to-recycle items, ReWorks runs Recycling Days collections (July–August), Household Hazardous Waste drop-off, and a scrap-tire program (up to 10 tires per vehicle, $1 each) for residents.
For large household items, check your municipal or hauler bulk-pickup schedule. The Summit/Akron ReWorks district fills the gaps countywide: seasonal Recycling Days collect items beyond standard curbside recycling, Household Hazardous Waste is accepted Thursdays 2–7 p.m. through September, and scrap tires are taken during the summer collection season at ReWorks in Stow — up to 10 passenger/light-truck tires per vehicle at $1 per tire. Ohio EPA rules also require registration to transport more than 10 tires, and open dumping of tires is illegal.
Illegally dumping bulk items, tires, or hazardous waste is prohibited under ORC 3734.03 (open-dumping ban); Summit County Public Health investigates open-dumping complaints.
