Delaware County does not collect trash. Each borough, township or city arranges collection — some municipally (like Upper Darby, which collects refuse and bills owners), others through a contracted or private hauler. Set-out times and days are set locally.
Delaware County, PA does not provide curbside trash service; collection is a municipal responsibility. Some towns, such as Upper Darby Township, collect residential refuse directly and pass the cost to property owners; others contract a single hauler or leave residents to subscribe privately. Collection days, the number of bags or cans allowed, and the earliest set-out time all come from your municipality's solid-waste ordinance. Countywide, Delaware County plans for disposal capacity under its 10-year Municipal Waste Management Plan (required by PA Act 101), and most non-recycled trash goes to the Covanta incinerator in Chester. For pickup days and rules, contact your borough or township, not the county.
Setting trash out too early, using the wrong container, or exceeding allowed volume can bring a fine under the municipal solid-waste ordinance; missed or improper set-out simply is not collected.
