Rock County does not run residential curbside collection. Pickup is municipal: the City of Janesville collects trash and recycling from single-family and 2-to-4-unit homes with city carts, and other cities, villages and private haulers set their own schedules. Check your municipality for your day.
Wisconsin's recycling law requires every community to provide an effective recycling program, but service is delivered at the city, village, town or hauler level, not by Rock County. Janesville provides each single-family and small multi-unit residence a refuse cart and a recycling cart and runs scheduled curbside collection, plus drop-off sites for tires, appliances, metals, motor oil, batteries and yard waste. Beloit and other municipalities operate their own or contracted collection. For your collection day, cart type, holiday changes and yard-waste options, contact your city or village public-works or solid-waste office, or your private hauler.
Missed or improper set-out is handled by your municipality or hauler (skipped pickup or a municipal notice). Rock County does not cite residents for pickup issues.
