Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility customers must promptly report visible main breaks, hydrant gushers, and sustained service-line leaks; AWWU operates a 24-hour dispatch line and offers high-bill leak-credit adjustments.
AWWU's Standard Terms and Conditions, filed with the Regulatory Commission of Alaska, place the customer responsible for the service line from the main shutoff to the structure. Owners must repair leaks within 30 days of written notice or face service termination. AWWU dispatches crews around the clock for main breaks, hydrant damage, and sewer overflows; reporting numbers are posted at awwu.biz. A one-time leak-credit adjustment is available when a customer can document a hidden underground service-line break repaired by a licensed plumber, generally rebating the wastewater portion of the spike.
Failure to repair a known service-line leak within 30 days after AWWU written notice authorizes service shut-off and a $150 reconnection fee, plus billed water consumption during the leak period.
