Maximum building height is set per district in the CZO. In the Historic Urban Neighborhood Two-Family (HU-RD2) district, the maximum building height is 35 feet. Detached accessory structures in a required yard are capped at 14 feet.
The CZO bulk tables fix a maximum principal-building height for each district. For the HU-RD2 district, Table 11-2A sets a maximum building height of 35 feet. Other residential and historic-core districts have their own limits, and commercial and centers districts allow more. Separately, detached accessory structures located within a required yard are limited to 14 feet under Sec. 21.6.A. Height is measured per the CZO's definitions, and historic-district review (HDLC/VCC) may further constrain massing and roof height for compatibility with the surrounding streetscape.
Exceeding the district height limit requires a variance from the Board of Zoning Adjustments; unpermitted over-height construction faces stop-work orders, fines, and removal.
