Neither New York City nor Bronx County has a general juvenile curfew. NYC considered curfews multiple times but never enacted one citywide. Truancy laws under NY Education Law Β§3205 require school attendance for ages 6-16 during school hours but do not create a curfew.
Unlike many U.S. cities, NYC relies on Family Court, ACS, and school resource officers rather than curfew enforcement. Individual NYCHA developments and NYC Parks may impose curfew hours for specific facilities (e.g., playgrounds close at dusk). NYPD may temporarily impose curfews in emergencies (e.g., 2020 civil unrest) by executive order of the Mayor.
