Dallas enforces one of Texas's strictest juvenile curfews: minors under 17 banned from public places 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM Sunday-Thursday and 12:01 AM to 6:00 AM Friday-Saturday. A daytime curfew runs 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM on school days. Parents and establishment owners face fines up to $500.
Dallas City Code Β§31-33 is among the most enforced juvenile curfews in Texas. It makes it an offense for a minor under 17 to remain in any public place or establishment during curfew hours. Nighttime curfew runs 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM Sunday through Thursday and 12:01 AM to 6:00 AM Friday and Saturday. Daytime curfew under Β§31-33.1 prohibits compulsory-attendance minors from public places between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM on school days.
Defenses include parental accompaniment, parental errands, interstate travel, employment travel, emergency response, attending school or religious activity, First Amendment exercise, presence at the minor's residence sidewalk, and emancipation. DPD pursues diversion via the juvenile case manager program.
A violation is a Class C misdemeanor with a fine up to $500. Parents and establishment owners who knowingly permit a violation face the same fine. The Juvenile Case Manager Program may order community service or parenting classes.
