Lakewood requires a clear sight triangle at all intersections: no fence, hedge, or obstruction over 30 inches within 20 feet of the corner under LCO 1325.06 and Traffic Code Chapter 351.
The visibility triangle is measured from the point where two right-of-way lines intersect, extending 20 feet along each street. Within this triangle nothing may exceed 30 inches in height including fences, shrubs, berms, monument signs, or parked vehicles. The rule applies to driveway aprons as well (15 foot triangle). Lakewood's grid street layout creates hundreds of corner lots and the Traffic Division actively enforces visibility for pedestrians and cyclists. Corner property owners receive written notice before abatement action.
Abatement notice: 10 days to correct. Non-compliance: city trims or removes obstruction and bills owner. Citation up to 500 dollars per day for repeat.
