Fences and walls may be placed anywhere on a lot, subject to setback and height limits, and must aesthetically complement the yard and neighboring properties. Multi-family access gates must meet ADA and Fire Department requirements.
Under UCMC Chapter 18.32, walls, fences, and hedges may be located anywhere on a lot subject to the applicable setback and height restrictions. They must aesthetically complement the yard area and be compatible with neighboring yards, fences, and structures. Where the height is limited to 6 feet, an additional 18-inch lattice may be added with Director approval and a building permit. Any gate on a multi-family residential lot that crosses a driveway, fire lane, or sidewalk access must comply with all ADA and Fire Department requirements for access. An 8-foot fence permitted by an adjacent qualifying use must be reduced to 6 feet within 30 calendar days after that use is removed, relocated, or terminated.
Fences placed in violation of setback, height, design-compatibility, or access requirements may be subject to correction or removal through code enforcement.
